Our Story
Reaching people with the life-changing Gospel of Jesus Christ
For more than 50 years Tucker Road Baptist Church has been faithfully serving the Lord Jesus Christ in Hood River, Oregon. Our vision embraces two essential biblical commands: The Great Commission, The Great Commandment, and a promise, The Fellowship of the Believers.
The Great Commission
Matthew 28:18-20, Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been give to Me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have command- ed you. And surly I am with you always, even to the very end of the age.”
Our Vision, as we live our day-to-day lives, to be consciously aware of the Holy Spirit's leading to share Christ, to see people come to Christ, to rejoice when they are baptized, and to walk with them as they learn to follow Christ, and make Him the Lord of their Life.
The Great Commandment
Matthew 22:36-40, “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
Our Vision, as we live our day-to-day lives, to be consciously aware to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind, body, and strength, and to love one other's the way Jesus loves us. Jesus says that all of the Bible hangs on this depth of love.
The Fellowship of the Believers
Acts 2:42, They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to prayer.
Acts 2:43, Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the Apostles.
Acts 2:47,.....And the Lord added to their numbers daily those who were being saved.
Our Vision, as we live our day-to-day lives, to be consciously aware that we each personally need to be devoted to reading and studying God's Word personally and corporately, to seek out other's for fellowship and community, and to fellowship with our Heavenly Father daily through prayer. And He will bless.
What We Believe

God
We believe that there is one God who exists in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Jesus
We believe that Jesus is the Son of God, was born of a virgin, was wholly God and wholly man, lived a sinless life, died in our place as a sacrifice for the sins of mankind, was buried, arose bodily from the grave, and ascended into Heaven.
Christ's Return
We believe that Jesus Christ will literally return to earth.
Holy Spirit
We believe that God the Holy Spirit is active in convincing unbelievers of their need for salvation, and is the Comforter and Guide who lives in every believer.
Bible
We believe that the Bible is the Word of God without any error, the sole authority for life and faith.
Man
We believe that man is a special creation of God, made in His image but that through the sin of the first man, Adam, mankind fell so that all men are sinners and need salvation.
Salvation
We believe that salvation is a gift of God's grace that can only be received through repentance from sin and turning toward God through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Assurance
We believe that every person who is truly saved is eternally secure in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Eternity
We believe that those persons who die in their sins without Christ spend eternity in Hell, and those persons who die with their sins forgiven through Christ spend eternity in Heaven.
Baptism
We believe that water baptism is an act of obedience to the command of Christ and is by immersion after salvation.
Church
We believe that the church is both a local body as well as the global body of baptized believers with the Lord Jesus Christ as the Head.
Prayer
We believe that each believer has direct access to God through the Lord Jesus Christ.
Mission
We believe it is the responsibility and privilege of every Christian to make disciples of all nations.
Stewardship
We believe Christians are under an obligation to serve the Lord with their time, talents, and treasures and should recognize all these as entrusted to them by God to use for His glory and the good of others.

Our Staff

Meet Our Pastor
Dean Kelly
My name is Dean Kelly, and it has been a privilege and a blessing to pastor Tucker Road Baptist Church here in beautiful Hood River, Oregon. I must say that Tucker Road Baptist is the most loving church I have ever been apart of. I was officially called to pastor Tucker Road Baptist on August 1, 2014. I was living in Vancouver, Washington when I was contacted by the pastoral search committee of Tucker Road. I grew up in Woodbridge Virginia, a small, rural town 20 miles south of Washington, D.C. When I was 15 years old our family moved to Kailua, Oahu, Hawaii. I lived in Hawaii for 26 years. In 1986, I attended Washington Bible College and graduated in 1989. In 1990, I moved to Vancouver, Washington and attended Western Seminary located in Portland, Oregon. I graduated from Gateway Seminary located in Mill Valley California in May of 2005. I would love to meet you in person and share more of my journey as a follower of Jesus Christ, our Lord and our Savior. Our Sunday morning worship service begins at 11:00 AM. Please come and join us as we worship Jesus Christ.
Our Volunteers

Meet Our Bible Study Leader
Carolee Lyddon
My name is Carolee Lyddon. My husband, Dale, and I have been members of Tucker Road since 1980. The summer of 1947, I attended Vacation Bible School and memorized John 3:16. I believed that God loved me and that Jesus gave His life for me. My life has never been the same since He came into my heart. We are transplants (Dale from Illinois and I am from Missouri) by way of Alburquerque, New Mexico. We moved to Hood River in 1958. Dale retired in 1994 and I retired in 1997, but we have never retired from being active at Tucker Road. I enjoy leading a women's Bible Study every Tuesday morning and being part of our Grief Share group that meets Saturday mornings at 10am in our fellowship hall. We look forward to meeting you at the Sunday Morning worship service and having the oppertunity to get acquainted.

Meet Our Children's Ministry Volunteers
Sean accepted the Lord at age 11 and began attending Tucker Road Baptist Church at age 13. He was baptized a few years later. Sean immediately began helping with media and worship during Vacation Bible School and became a Deacon in 2018. Heather accepted the Lord and was baptized on Easter Sunday at 9 years old. As a child she enjoyed attending Awanas, Sunday school and The Dunes Bible Camp. Heather began attending Tucker Road Baptist Church in 2017.
The Buchers met and married at Tucker Road Baptist Church in 2019. They live in Hood River with their two daughters. They have a passion for encouraging and helping children understand The Lord’s love for them through His Word. Between Sean’s comedic ways and Heather’s love for arts & crafts their students leave their classroom looking forward to next week’s Sunday School.
